Alver Valley Schools are set in extensive grounds close to the Alver Valley Country Park in Gosport. Every key stage has it's own large play equipment as well as a very large grassed playing field and a newly refurbished all-weather sports ground.
Alver Valley Schools came together today to mark t Alver Valley Schools came together today to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The whole school community came dressed in red, white and blue, and we started our day with an informative assembly from our resident historian Mrs Richardson. We learnt about why we mark the day and also found out more about our local area and the part it played. The whole school grounds were adorned with bunting in time for our whole school picnic. Children from across the schools loved spending time with siblings and cousins, eating and then playing together. Everyone played so well together. Thank you to Mrs Petty, Mrs Richardson, the Alver Valley Troopers, and everyone else who played a part in organising the day. #alvervalley #alvervalleyschools @gosportmuseumgallery @gosportheritage
Forest school with the Owls last week was absolute Forest school with the Owls last week was absolutely brilliant. En route to the woodland we spotted a young fox across the field, so we stopped to watch him as he watched us! Next stop was a visit to our landmark tree. One of the children declared that the tree was a teenager now as he had grown so much. Next stop for the bug hunting experts in Year R was a spot of bug spotting. This week we found so many different varieties - clearly the warmer weather is suiting the bugs. Our children are so creative, they were setting traps and patiently waiting trying to catch a bug to study. When successful we used our reference books to work out what we had caught. Here are a few of our finds! #eyfs #alvervalley #forestschooleducation #forestschools
A message from Lisa: Thank you so much to everyone A message from Lisa:
Thank you so much to everyone at Alver Valley schools for your support and encouragement during my London Marathon journey to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was one of the hardest thing I have ever done but I completed all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon 2025.

It was certainly a mental challenge at times, particularly through Canary Wharf which seemed to go on forever, but I channeled the energy shown by year one on Friday and made myself carry on! Your donations are greatly appreciated and will make such a difference to those affected by cancer and their loved ones.

Thank you again 🥰
Lisa
Today is the day! Best wishes to Lisa Woods who is Today is the day! Best wishes to Lisa Woods who is running the London Marathon today! We hope that you were inspired by the energy of our Year 1 runners when you completed your final training run with them on Friday, as the whole school ran mini marathons in aid of @macmillancancer. Don’t forget, you can still make a donation via the QR code on the poster all in support of Macmillan. #run #alvervalleyschools #alvervalley @macmillancancer

Today we welcomed families into school to help us to create a new community garden. We planted seeds in homemade greenhouses, made a large wind chime, made a sign, did lots of weeding, planted seeds, onions, potatoes and flowers, drew and made flowers and created a wild flower patch. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along and lend a hand. A huge thanks to all who helped weed and dig! Hopefully we will have lots of wild flowers growing over the months and years ahead. #alvervalley #eyfs #gardening @gillianhibbs #savethebees #growingschoolgardens #growingspaces @the_rhs @gardenersworldmag #eytagteam #eyfsfun

The children of Alver Valley Schools were set the The children of Alver Valley Schools were set the exciting challenge of thinking of a name for a brand-new Unmanned Surface Vessel by Mr Corless, our Chair of Governors.

The unmanned vessel is being trialled before being set to work on a renewable energy project to assist with surveying prior to installation and expansion of a new offshore windfarm.

The vessel needs a name to be registered with the coastguard and harbour master. Children have sent their name ideas into school and today the entries were shortlisted by the school council.

Now it is your turn, we invite the whole school community to vote on the shortlisted names. The children whose ideas were shortlisted will have the amazing opportunity to go along and visit the vessel to see part of the trial at Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester. The vote closes 2pm on Friday 4th April. Time to get voting Alver Valley Community!

Today, in assembly, children were set the exciting Today, in assembly, children were set the exciting challenge of thinking of a name for a brand new Unmanned Surface Vessel. Mr Corless, our chair of Governers, has set us this challenge.

The unmanned vessel is being trialled before being set to work on a renewable energy project to assist with surveying prior to installation and expansion of a new offshore windfarm.

The Uni-Pact vessel works with larger survey vessels where a smaller vehicle is better suited to missions, offering efficient bathymetry (the depths and shapes of underwater terrain). It is incredibly stable and versatile. It can work in shallow coastal waters that cannot be accessed safely by manned survey vessels, basically a large remote vessel with a sensor payload. It then sends back data so you can see a map of the seabed for any obstruction.

The vessel needs a name to be registered with the coastguard and harbour master. That’s where Alver Valley Schools comes in. Are you up for the challenge to come up with a suitable name? Children are invited to send their name ideas into school together with their name and class for the attention of Mrs Lockwood by Friday.

Entries will be shortlisted by the school council. The whole school community will then have the opportunity to vote on the shortlisted names. The children whose ideas are shortlisted will have the amazing opportunity to go along and visit the vessel to see part of the trial at Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester. Time to get creative Alver Valley! @fugro #alvervalleyschools #alvervalley #namethatvessel #eco #oceanography
