Today a small number of our keen Alver Valley gard Today a small number of our keen Alver Valley gardeners went along to the Gosport Schools in Bloom Ceremony to represent Alver Valley Infant and Nursery School and Alver Valley Junior School. Imagine our delight to be the proud recipients of 8 awards for our schools’ growing efforts! We won a mix of silver and bronze awards and had a great time meeting the judges and the Mayor of Gosport. We were so inspired and have already started planning our future growing exploits! A special thank you goes to Mr E who has been gardening alongside Year R ever since our Stay and Grow for parents! #alvervalley #alvervalleyschools @gosportboroughcouncil #gosportinbloom #gardening
Year R had the amazing opportunity to experience B Year R had the amazing opportunity to experience Beach School this week, working with Final Straw Foundation. Georgie and Kate led our sessions. They first explained ‘keep safe’ messages at the beach, and then we talked about what we might find. We learnt that there are lots of shore crabs, and we learnt how to pick up them up safely. Then the hunt was on. We found so many different creatures living on the beach and learnt lots about them. We found tiny shrimp, crabs of all sizes, a goby fish, razor clams, whelks, cockles, clams and so much more. There was seaweed of many colours and of course lots of shells and interesting rocks and stones - some of which had barnacles growing on them. Georgie talked to us about the tides and we noticed how this was changing over our time at the beach. We also had a great fun paddling, digging, chalking on the sea wall, and even found time to make some mermaids! Thank you to our parent helpers and everyone at @finalstrawfoundation we so appreciate this opportunity that we have every year to come and explore the beach with you. #alvervalleyschools #alvervalley #beachschool #forestschool
Thanks to Mrs Russell for running another workshop Thanks to Mrs Russell for running another workshop with parents this time on anxiety and worry. Mrs Russell shared how worry is normal and how we as adults can offer emotional support. Lots of ideas and top tips were shared in the session to add to your toolbox. Look out for further sessions in the Autumn Term. #alvervalley
Do you remember the ‘Name the USV’ challenge? Do you remember the ‘Name the USV’ challenge? The children of Alver Valley Schools were set the exciting challenge of thinking of a name for a brand-new Unmanned Surface Vessel by Mr Corless, our Chair of Governors.

The USV is being trialled before being set to work on a renewable energy project to assist with surveying prior to installation and expansion of a new offshore windfarm.

The vessel needed a name to be registered with the coastguard and harbour master. The results from the vote were counted, the name picked and today the children whose ideas were shortlisted had the amazing opportunity to go along and visit the vessel to see part of the trial at Trafalgar Wharf in Portchester. We had the best time and wanted to share a little taste of the day with you all. Thank you @fugro and thank you everyone who took part and voted! #alvervalley #alvervalleyschools #seacreature @finalstrawfoundation
Alver Valley Schools came together today to mark t Alver Valley Schools came together today to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day. The whole school community came dressed in red, white and blue, and we started our day with an informative assembly from our resident historian Mrs Richardson. We learnt about why we mark the day and also found out more about our local area and the part it played. The whole school grounds were adorned with bunting in time for our whole school picnic. Children from across the schools loved spending time with siblings and cousins, eating and then playing together. Everyone played so well together. Thank you to Mrs Petty, Mrs Richardson, the Alver Valley Troopers, and everyone else who played a part in organising the day. #alvervalley #alvervalleyschools @gosportmuseumgallery @gosportheritage
Forest school with the Owls last week was absolute Forest school with the Owls last week was absolutely brilliant. En route to the woodland we spotted a young fox across the field, so we stopped to watch him as he watched us! Next stop was a visit to our landmark tree. One of the children declared that the tree was a teenager now as he had grown so much. Next stop for the bug hunting experts in Year R was a spot of bug spotting. This week we found so many different varieties - clearly the warmer weather is suiting the bugs. Our children are so creative, they were setting traps and patiently waiting trying to catch a bug to study. When successful we used our reference books to work out what we had caught. Here are a few of our finds! #eyfs #alvervalley #forestschooleducation #forestschools
A message from Lisa: Thank you so much to everyone A message from Lisa:
Thank you so much to everyone at Alver Valley schools for your support and encouragement during my London Marathon journey to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was one of the hardest thing I have ever done but I completed all 26.2 miles of the London Marathon 2025.

It was certainly a mental challenge at times, particularly through Canary Wharf which seemed to go on forever, but I channeled the energy shown by year one on Friday and made myself carry on! Your donations are greatly appreciated and will make such a difference to those affected by cancer and their loved ones.

Thank you again 🥰
Lisa
Today is the day! Best wishes to Lisa Woods who is Today is the day! Best wishes to Lisa Woods who is running the London Marathon today! We hope that you were inspired by the energy of our Year 1 runners when you completed your final training run with them on Friday, as the whole school ran mini marathons in aid of @macmillancancer. Don’t forget, you can still make a donation via the QR code on the poster all in support of Macmillan. #run #alvervalleyschools #alvervalley @macmillancancer
